Since January 1985 Ian has lived mostly in third world countries dedicated to the development agenda. In the last few years Ian has worked on projects funded by a wide range of ODA funders including AusAID / DFAT, USAID, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, MCC and UN. Most of the time since 1995 Ian has performed team leader / project management roles on ODA projects involving multidisciplinary teams and more than 1 donor and complex projects. He has a strong background in project management (activity design, implementation quality management, M&E, finance, HRD), excellent people skills, an advocate of innovation, accountability and transparency that make a difference in development projects. A believer in local capacity building as essential to all ODA. Expertise in the following disciplines; property and people and customs; property and inclusive access and use; sound land management for better cities and disaster risk management; property and the economy and poverty; property and finance and taxation; access, rights and responsibilities on property; property and good national and good local governance; spatial systems for land use planning, development planning and investment planning. His country experience as long term land sector assignments in Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos and Maynmar.
